For Holders of Foreign Driver's Licenses

Either ① or ② driver's license and ③ passport are required.

②Foreign driver's license

Foreign driver's license issued by the target country/region + official Japanese translation

Japanese translation: Japanese translation prepared by a person specified by government ordinance.

③Passport

We will check the stamp on your passport for the date of landing in Japan.
If you are entering or exiting Japan through an "automated gate," please notify the staff member when you pass through the gate.
Please have an immigration stamp stamped.

 

If you do not have a stamp, you will not be able to rent a car.

Period during which you can drive in Japan

One year from the date of landing in Japan or the validity period of the license, whichever is shorter.

If a person recorded in the Basic Resident Register (such as a foreign national staying for a medium to long term) departs from Japan after receiving departure confirmation or re-entry permission, and then lands again within three months, the relevant The day of landing (returning to Japan) is not the starting date of the driving period.
